I browsed through a Pottery Barn store a few weekends ago while shopping. I think I might have literally squealed with delight at some of their fall displays. They were gorgeous!
There were fall leaves, pumpkins, gourds, candles, and fall colors everywhere! No, I didn’t buy anything but I DID come home with lots of ideas and inspiration! :)
Like bunches of fall leaf branches sticking out of containers – gorgeous!
Fall wreaths layered on top of mirrors on mantels, and so much more! And so much more! (Check out your local Pottery Barn store for some inspiration!)
I had already decorated my fall mantel the same way that I had done for the last few years. But now I had a new vision! I was determined to use mostly things that I already had and just add in a few things I planned on making anyway.
First was the fall leaves cascading out of a container! I love the way this came out. I bought 2 sprays of fall leaves, 1 spray of pinecones on a stick, and 1 wheat looking spray at Hobby Lobby on sale 50% off. I grabbed my yard sale-find metal container (it used to be a hideous bright purple, but now is beautiful oil rubbed bronze) and some scraps of floral foam. Then I just stuck the all the sprays in the foam, tweaked them here and there for literally like 2 minutes and this is what I got. I wanted the natural “I just picked these out of the yard and stuffed them in this container” look. :) Love it!
Then was the wreath. I had seen a wreath all wrapped in burlap at Michael’s and wanted to recreate it. I used a Dollar store foam wreath and found burlap garland at Michael’s for about $2.00 after coupon to wrap around the wreath. Then I dug some leftover fall stems out of my stash and poked them into the wreath through the burlap.
I found the metal candlesticks at a yard sale this weekend for $3.00. Everything else I already had in my fall décor bins or use around the house all the time (like the clock that I got from Kirkland’s months ago.)
I love my fall mantel this year!
I think it is very “Pottery Barn-ish” and it fits in my living room perfectly. I am also really enjoying fall this year especially now that the weather here in GA is actually feeling more like fall. :)

ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Very cute mantle ideas! I want to do something to mine but I have been at a loss as to decorating it since the day my husband decided to put his mounted deer head above the mantle (not exactly what I had envisioned hanging there)! But we live in a log cabin so I guess the deer head fits into the overall decor so I will be adding some natural elements to the mantle and you gave me some really good ideas. I also sent you an email when I found out that you live in Covington. I live in Rome which is not too far away from you.
